Empty Leg Flights
An "empty leg" is the portion of an air ambulance flight when there is no patient on-board the aircraft. This would occur when an aircraft is repositioning to pick up a non-emergency patient or returning to its' home base after a transport has occurred. Often the empty leg can be utilized to offer a cost savings for air ambulance transport if there is some flexibility in the date of transfer without compromising the patient or quality of care.
Our automated "real-time" empty leg listing is currently under development. Please contact dispatch to discuss your transfer request and we will advise you if there are any upcoming empty-legs that would connect with your schedule.
